Dear All,
The new homeless shelter operator… The county approved an emergency ordinance to give a local nonprofit a lease to operate a day shelter and overnight winter shelter to serve area homeless people at the HHS building.
On 5/23/22, Anne met with Lindsay Maisch, the new Human Services Director, to discuss the Emergency Homeless Overnight Shelter, was introduced to Colin Kenney the Operations Manager of Recover Resources, & was shown the homeless shelter facilities. Anne acknowledged that the homeless need services, how they are bringing an unstable population into a family neighborhood, discussed her concerns, historical neighborhood interactions with the homeless, how TRHA was told that there would never be an overnight usage @ the H&HS building, & wondered why TRHA was not asked to participate in the emergency homeless overnight shelter discussion. Lindsay mentioned that they are working on a permanent supportive housing which could be 2-3 years, & perhaps a temporary solution would be an overnight shelter @ Brush Creek, or the church’s parking lot, & providing patrols. Lindsay requested a TRHA Liaison, & is looking into holding a meeting with our neighborhood, to hear everyone’s voices, and involved officials.
Please contact me with any questions.
Best, Anne
